Bring Your Sense of Adventure to Moorea

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

If you don't consider yourself an adventurous person, that might change after a luxury vacation to Moorea, an island near Tahiti. From diving to observe the diverse species of sharks to savoring exotic eats, there are endless opportunities for thrill-seekers of all levels. Regardless, you're bound to take a few risks & more importantly, surprise yourself.

TOPDIVE "Safe" & "swimming with sharks" may not seem to go hand in hand, but at this diving center on the grounds of the InterContinental Moorea Resort, it's an actual possibility. After you submerge, certified diving instructors & dive masters lure black tip sharks, 10-foot-long lemon sharks & other varieties with bait so that you can observe them in their natural habitat. If the thought of being in such close proximity to a shark makes you tremble, TOPDIVE also offers whale & dolphin watching tours.

Moorea Dolphin Center Getting up close & personal with a bottlenose dolphin is the best way to get to know them. Still, at the Moorea Dolphin Center, you'll find the answer to nearly every question you've ever had about these creatures. Then, you'll have the chance to meet & greet them to experience their friendly nature & acrobatic tricks firsthand. If you're looking to have more one-on-one time with a dolphin, the Apnea program allows swimmers age 16 & up to grab hold of a fin for the ride of a lifetime.

AQUABLUE Have you ever wanted to walk under water? Helmet diving at AQUABLUE allows you to do just that for a unique tour of the coral reefs & other seascapes. Your helmet is connected to a special pipe that allows you to breathe easily & comfortably, so you can take your time & truly immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring world that exists below the surface. From colorful fish to unusual plant life, it's nearly impossible to see everything on this 30-minute excursion.

Motu Picnic A picnic might not sound like the most daring activity, but this is not your traditional lunch trip. After boating to the remote, uninhabited island of Motu, you'll have six hours to snorkel, pet the native sting rays & stretch out on the pristine beach with a refreshing rum punch. Come lunchtime, feast on freshly prepared barbecue with fruit, crusty baguettes & the signature Tahitian dish poisson cru (raw fish marinated in coconut milk & lime juice).

You don't have to be a daredevil to enjoy luxury travel to Moorea – but you may find stepping out of your comfort zone will leave you with unforgettable memories.
