Updated: Nov 29, 2018

Truth be told, there is no wrong time for luxury travel to St. Lucia. From tours of lush rainforest canopies to sailing the tropical waters at sunset, there are endless activities & excursions to keep even a group with the most eclectic interests busy. Still, summertime in St. Lucia is special. A multitude of festivals & celebrations transform the island into a place that's bursting with cultural traditions & the arts. With the sounds of beating drums in the background & a cold, locally brewed Piton beer in your hands, you can watch as St. Lucia comes alive in these hot summer months.

May You're bound to discover a few new bands at the St. Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, which runs from April 30 to May 11. The event has long been a Caribbean cultural highlight, but, according to The Huffington Post, it has grown from a tiny event in 1992 to a much larger affair, which now includes a multitude of internationally recognized musicians & artisans. Even if you take a trip toward the end of the festival, you can still catch some of the stellar shows, which are performed at the historic Pigeon Island National Landmark & other picturesque sites. If music's not your jam, the event organizers noted that there's also an exhibition of visual works by well-known & emerging local artists. Bibliophiles will relish in the literary exhibition, where you can check out both famous & rare works by St. Lucian writers. Fashion fanatics, on the other hand, can head to the Audi Showroom at the Meridian Place for "St. Lucia Hot Couture," a runway showcase of top local designers.

June & July Possibly the most pleasant time of year climate-wise, June & July in St. Lucia typically see temperatures that stay in the 70s & 80s, according to U.S News & World Report, which is perfect for sightseeing. Mid-June is also when the St. Lucia Carnival kicks off, launching an explosion of festivities to celebrate the island's culture & arts. Visit St. Lucia Anytime emphasized that the peak of the festivities is the raucous Jour Ouvert, where bands are judged at Mindoo Philip Park & you too can compete for the strangest ensemble or "Ole Mas." This festival continues through July, giving you plenty of opportunities to check it out whether you're planning to visit St. Lucia in June or July.

August August is an exciting time to visit St. Lucia. Visit St. Lucia Anytime revealed that citizens take to the streets Aug. 30 in elaborate costumes to imitate kings, queens & other characters for The Feast of St. Rose de Lima. Stick around for the buffet feast at dusk. Even if you're too shy to participate in the singing & dancing, you'll have a blast listening to the French Creole songs accompanied by a cacophony of instruments, including saxophones & banjos.

By taking a luxury vacation to St. Lucia in the summer, your entire group will have the opportunity to immerse themselves more deeply into the culture. Now, the only challenge is deciding which month to visit.
