How to Plan the Perfect Babymoon

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

Many couples who are expecting a baby choose to go on one last luxury travel escape before the arrival of their little bundle of joy. This pre-baby jaunt, known as a babymoon, has become very popular in recent years – after all, you deserve a little R&R while it's still just the two of you.

If you're planning a babymoon, your certified travel concierges at Beach Bum Vacation are here to help! Here are some of our favorite tips for planning your relaxing & romantic babymoon, whether you're interested in adult vacations in the Caribbean or Mexico:

Time it right When planning the perfect babymoon, timing is everything. Many experts say the best time to indulge in a babymoon is during your second trimester, when your energy is still up & the nausea from your first trimester is (hopefully) over. The American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists states that air travel is generally considered safe before 36 weeks. However, women should be sure to check with their doctors before planning a trip to make sure traveling is OK. Additionally, they should contact their airline to see if they have any restrictions on when pregnant women can fly.

Better safe than sorry While your babymoon is all about spending quality time with your sweetie, it's equally as important to take care of your growing baby. This might mean passing up trips to overly exotic locales that require a vaccine, & researching any local epidemics or health issues in the area you decide to visit. Additionally, it's always a good idea to have the phone number of a local hospital on hand, just in case you need to see a doctor during your trip.

Check out pregnancy perks There's lots of perks to being pregnant when you stay at luxury hotels, & we recommend that you take advantage of all of them. Many adult only resorts offer special accommodations for soon-to-be mamas, whether it be prenatal yoga classes on the beach or room-service cravings menus. Also, many hotel spas have special prenatal massages, which are sure to help you relax during your babymoon.

Don't forget the romance Your babymoon marks the last time it will be just you & your spouse on vacation, so no matter how much sightseeing you hope to accomplish or how many souvenirs you want to shop for, don't forget the romance! Rekindle the flame with a relaxing couples massage, or sneak away to a private stretch of sand & simply watch the sunset together. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you focus on spending time together, doing things you both enjoy &, above all, remembering what made you fall in love in the first place.
