Drink & Discover at The Caribbean Rum & Beer Festival

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

What's your poison? No matter your palate, you'll have plenty of rum & beer to choose from at the Caribbean Rum & Beer Festival, which returns to the "Spice Island" of Grenada on Nov 22 & 23.

While luxury vacations to the island have always promised an exciting culinary education, including tours of Grenada Chocolate Company, this event offers a truly unique experience. According to the event's website, the festival has become increasingly popular since it started in Barbados in 2010, but organizers are promising that this will be the best year yet.

"We get some of the world's finest rum & beers on offer at the festival; they represent the Caribbean region at its best," said Operations Director Glyn Williams. "To complement these great products we plan to create an entertainment package of equal value."

Not only will you have the chance to sample libations from across the isle, but a variety of live cooking sessions & master classes on rum & beer offer the opportunity to sharpen your culinary skills. While you sip & stroll through the festival, you'll also get to nosh on rum cakes & other Creole food pairings to the sounds of steel pan music & African drumming.

The highlight will be the CAB Taste Contest, which the event's site says involves a blind tasting by an assortment of international industry experts. These judges will evaluate the selections & award gold, silver & bronze medals to the best beverages in the Caribbean.

It goes without saying that you'll be feeling good after hours of imbibing the finest rums & beers in the region. Just in case you needed one more reason to, though, the festival includes a silent auction to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Home, a shelter for Grenadian orphans & children in need.
